Favorite tyler the creator album? My favorite probably is wolf or IGOR

    Comments

Wolf is far and away my favorite Tyler album. It came out during highschool so I hold a lot of nostalgia for it. I remember the first time my sister played Tamale in the car and I was hooked. When Igor came out in Summer 2019, I listened through Tyler's discogrpahy and I feel madly in love with Wolf. I listened to Slater a lot because the strings make me feel like I'm flying when I listen to it The line about Tyler turing 21 in the song resonated with me at the time since it turned 21 that summer. I love the album's use of percussion because it builds and maintains a lot of forward momentum. Every second of every song on Wolf is utilized to the fullest, which is something I can't say for weaker, more bloated albums like Goblin or Cherry Bomb. It occupies a very interesting place in Tyler's discogrpahy because it's a crossroads of the edgy Tyler of the late 2000s and early 2010s and the touchy-feely Tyler of today. I love the story it tells and the raw emotional quality to it. To me what makes an album great is that you can listen to it a bunch of times and discover a new favorite song. That happens to me everytime I listen to Wolf, with songs like IFHY, Cowboy, Parking Lot, Rusty Pigs, etc. I consider it the highwater mark of the Odd Future era, which is an era I look back at very fondly. It's like OF's last big hurrah, because they all drifted apart not too long after Wolf. Everything about it strikes very a powerful chord with me. I'm sorry I wrote a post longer than a book of me gushing over this one album, but I feel so passionate about Wolf. Plus the album art is just so iconic.
TL;DW Old man writes incomprehensible War and Peace length post over a 10+ year old album he likes because of highschool nostalgia and being genuinely great.

Bro have to agree with you, wolf is one of my favs plus nice paragraph it was a good read :]

@macaroninugget Thanks. After I posted it, I thought I thought it might have beeen off-putting to have some Internet rando suddenly appear make a post longer than a text book about an album he likes, but I' m glad to see you enjoyed it. FYI, Bastard comes in at second place. I love how raw and edgy it is, along with how alien the production sounds. Igor is third. I like its jazzy lofi sound. It also has a streak of edgy Tyler in all that touchy-feely that becomes more apparent with each listen.
